The Three Golden Keys
Published in Hardcover by Frances Foster Books (03 October, 2001)
Author: Peter Sis
Average review score:

achingly beautiful
a book for adults and children. adults, the text and pictures in the book will take your breath away. i believe this was the last book edited by jacqueline kennedy onassis, and there is a little thank you to her in it. a perfect testament to a fey - in the nicest sense -- lady. it is ethereal and draws you in with a calming influence. absolutely wonderful. buy it for yourself or anyone who thinks about long ago with fond memories.

An Excellent Awakening to Prague!
This dark and intricately illustrated book is simply excellent. The art work in it is fantastic and it gives a magically haunting overview of growing up in Prague. It has a magic cat with glowing eyes that walks the young traveler through the streets of his homeland. The drawings are rich with story and intricate with legend. It is an intense book, and some of the legends are dark and spooky. I wouldn't recommend it for children under the age of six, but for children who are just awakening to legend, history, and fairy tale, this is a must. I personally think it is a must for adults as well - I keep my copy on the coffee table because, really, the art as well as the story is of that caliber and it makes a great coversation piece. The book also has a fascinating development story, as well. Peter Sis was apparently encouraged and motivated by Jackie Onasis, working at Double Day at the time, to produce this wonderful book for his young daughter. Sis wanted to produce a piece for his daughter so that she would always know where her daddy came from. Jackie O. helped make Sis' dream a reality. It really is a fine piece of art, history, and story.

A Treasury of Little Golden Books : The Poky Little Puppy, the Saggy Baggy Elephant, Scuffy the Tugboat, the Shy Little Kitten, Tootle the Train

A Treasure of a Treasury
The best of the classic Golden Books stories - with original artwork - come in a little treasure chest. These are smaller versions than the original books, with easy-to-wipe puffy plastic covers. Too cute! A great gift for a little one. Or treat yourself and bring back a little of your childhood. A great value for the money.

Timeless Stories!
This book has all of the stories from my childhood. Little Golden Books has taken 46 of their best loved children's stories and put them in to one book, everything from "The Poky Little Puppy" to "Scruffy the Tugboat" are included. Even if you are trying to find a book for a little one or if you remember these stories when they first came out, these stories will make you smile. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

The Trees of Golden Gate Park and San Francisco
Published in Paperback by Heyday Books (June, 2001)
Authors: Elizabeth McClintock and Richard G., Jr. Turner
Average review score:

The stories of almost two hundred different trees
Trees Of Golden Gate Park And San Francisco is a 'must' bible of detail for any San Francisco resident or enthusiast who wants to know more about the city's urban forest and landscape. Chapters are packed with details ranging from early San Francisco landscape history to the evolution of its parks. The presentation is based on the writings of botanist Elizabeth McClintock, and presents the stories of almost two hundred different trees located in Golden Gate Park. No color photos, but the depth of text and detail doesn't need them; the b/w line drawings are enough.

Makes me happy I live here...
...that there should be people in my community as to write such a book. Starting with the park's planning phases (did you know that Mr. Central Park himself, Frederick Law Olmstead, recommended putting the park along what is now the Van Ness corridor!), the book quickly progresses to encyclopedic coverage of the trees of the park... Sections from this book are destined to become long and enjoyable walks for us in the near future! Unlike many field guides, very fitting for pleasure reading.

Twelve Golden Threads: Lessons for Successful Living from Grama's Quilt
Published in Paperback by HarperCollins (paper) (May, 1997)
Author: Aliske Webb
Average review score:

A Project Plan for Living
I have read this book three times and love it. It's a story that wraps you in the life of the characters and confirms life values and habits as you read. You will find yourself wanting to read this story over and over.

I'm currently looking for the availability of a copy to give as a gift. It may also make a special gift for someone in your life that you would like to inspire.

lessons for success through the creation of quilts
This book is fantastic! I borrowed it from the library and have bought several to give as gifts. It is the story of a grandmother who is teaching her granddaughters the skills needed to create a quilt over a one year period. The sisters are very different and each one learns the TWELVE GOLDEN THREADS for successful living step by step as they create their own special quilts. It is a book that I want to share with my high school students because of the wonderful way that the two purposes of this book - quilt making and steps for successful living - are woven together into a story of love and caring. Highly recommended!!

I used this book throughout my degree which was in art and maths. It was superb and very easy to read or just scan through. I would recommend it to anybody interested in these subjects, especially people who are facinated with the links between maths and art. Well worth getting.

Fascinating, magical book
All drawings are clear and superbly illustrated. I use this to teach design and the students love it. It is a very stimulating piece of work which is worth every penny.

Unseen Riches (Morris, Gilbert. Chronicles of the Golden Frontier, Bk. 2.)
Published in Paperback by Crossway Books (March, 1999)
Authors: Gilbert Morris and J. Landon Ferguson
Average review score:

It was wonderful!
Embarking on a new journey, to a new place can be dangerous especially when Jennifer DeSpain travels to Black Hawk, Colorado with her family and friends. Packing and selling everything was easy to do but getting there would be twice the fun. Suddenly when the train comes to a complete stop and is robbed, 'The Kissing Bandit' gets both their money and a kiss.

When they arrive in a nearby town they have no money until an unusual person saves the day. They finally arrive in Black Hawk and Jennifer realizes they can't keep the building they bought so she has to sell it and rent one. Soon Jason gets everything they need to get the first edition of the Advertiser published. Jason has to deliver the papers by horse and when he's taking the second edition around he has an accident on his horse. Jason is stubborn and not easy to talk while he's bedridden.

While Jason is stuck in bed, two men enter Jennifer's life. One, Lance Rivers, is there for Jennifer's love and the other, the Preacher, is a comfort for her soul. Jennifer tries to work the stubborn press but Jason was the only one who really figured it out. Soon Jason comes around and meets Lance and thinks he's a crafty character. While Jennifer and the kids take a vacation, Jason gets the scoop of a lifetime and makes the newspaper a lot of money.

Things change and so do people. Jennifer's heart changes its mind a few times. Tragedy strikes yet again, challenging Jennifer and her family once again.

I loved this book! The beginning starts out kind've slow but soon the plot thickens. The plot slows down a bit but then towards the end of the book the authors finally let us know who the 'Kissing Bandit' really is.

Great Books!
The impossible happened. Your two books held my attention to the finish. Good Job.

Visions from the Golden Land: Burma and the Art of Lacquer
Published in Hardcover by Art Media Resources Ltd (March, 2000)
Authors: Ralph Isaacs, T. Richard Blurton, and British Museum
Average review score:

Important new catalogue on Burmese Lacquerware
The British Museum, London, should be applauded for launching the first significant exhbition of Burmese art in a major European institution. The catalogue is well-researched, well-written and presents provocative questions. A pioneering section pertaining to inscriptions on Burmese lacquer is especially interesting. Furthermore, the installation in London at the museum was stunning.

Visions from the Golden Land
This is the first authoritative book devoted exclusively to the lacquer ware of Burma (Myanmar). I am an importer of Asian antiques, tribal, and folk art primarily from S.E. Asia, including Burma, and was delighted with the thoroughness of this books content. The range of lacquer ware discussed is quite thorough, the discussion on inscriptions is invaluable and the photographs are excellent. If the chapter on lacquer ware in Sylvia Fraser-Lu's Burmese Crafts Past and Present seemed too short, this is the next book to get. For the very knowledgable and very serious Burmese lacquer collector some of the examples used in the book may be dissapointing. I highly recommend this book.

fulfill my son's imagination
I read this book to my 3-yr-old son. He is both surprised and excited about the idea that little critter can do whatever he wants after drinking the magic potion. My son can imagine that he is little critter who can eat as much ice creams and chocalateas he wants and stay up as late as he wants. At the end little critter still wants his mom and dad to tug him in and hug him. So is my son. My son can relate to this book. No wonder he loves it.

The best
This is the best book for little kids.it lets our imagination run wild.It is also the wildest.
